from the "so cool" files...

mark indusky is the founder of a truly cool design firm called lost found art. they provide a really unique service that i just had to share.
based in new york, lost found art specializes in sculptural installations using vintage and antique pieces. they customize to fit any space, décor, or point of view. subtle or outrageous, whole room or small nook, free standing or wall mounted, their collections create a unique focal point for any room in your home or business. in addition to group installations they also offer individual pieces that by nature of their unique sculptural presence are strong enough to stand on their own -whether occupying an entire wall or resting in a bookcase or sitting on a coffee table.
basically, lost found art will make really amazing collections and installations in your home out of unique pieces. i think it's a great idea, because i for one have always wanted to make cool collections of things, but am horrible at arranging pieces effectively. well, at least so far i've been. you can find more information on lost found art right here. [thanks, mark!]

Thats the toy gun from the Foo Fighters first album cover.
I've been a lunch box collector and toy collector for years. I have a similar display in my own home of over 300 near mint lunch boxes. They are my pride and joy and have moved all around the world with me. Very nicely done.
I love your blog! I just started mine because I thought there was a void in the fun, fabulous design realm - but I've found you and now I'm not sure it's even worth it! I love your site and I only hope mine gets to be as creative.
My girlfriend directed me to this entry since I'm a collector (actually, I collect vintage ray guns...). I think the company's got an interesting angle on design, and I can definitely see the appeal. Though there is something weird about purchasing an "insta-collection"; half the fun of collecting comes from the hunt. The getting as opposed to the having... Still, there's no denying that a nice display of collectibles can look fantastic as a design element in any home, and these guys fill an interesting niche. (By the way, I enjoyed the rest of your blog, as well.)
