variegated holiday boutique
the talented lads of variegated inc have launched a fabulous new web boutique for the holidays. overflowing with holiday pillows, dog collars, aprons and napkins, not to mention sachets, tshirts and stockings, the site is a must-browse for all you gift-givers. you're bound to find something for someone you love...my favorite is the maple leaf print on ANYTHING. such a fantastic print. i wouldn't mind cooking up a storm in that apron. check out the boutique right here. happy shopping!

beautiful stuff. so happy about the great use of color. nice fresh mixes. smiling here.
Thanks for the nice words, and thanks to everyone who visited the site on Friday. We had quite a spike. Thanks for posting, Sponge.
Ryan McGuiness should sue over those holiday pillows...
total and absolute knock-offs.
unless he did them, but I didn't see his name.
ryan mcguiness did not:
invent the silhouette
he didn't invent cut and paste
and he did not invent collage either
if youre going to give him all that credit then go ahead and drink the kool-aid while youre at it!
you are right he didn't..
but aside from all those devices, the overall look is co-opted right from his body of work....
everyone knows this happens...design through osmosis that is.
but it could be a little more original. or at the very least just say you think it looks
alot like his style, and so what...it was supposed to.

it is really just the pillows,
the other stuff is much more anonymous.
those pillows though? give me a break!!!
the "he didn't invent that" argument is hardly valid...
yo, anon
links to the "stolen" work, please. again, accusations of stolen work need to be supported with facts...
please provide links to the pillows that you think were copied...so we can all judge for ourselves...
d*s
Anon the first...
I'm not sure how you get Ryan McGuiness from this pillow. Sure it uses shares a visual language in the icons and flourishes that as public domain drawings are part of quite a few graphic designers arsenal. Just because they are used here - and I think you probably have the biggest problem with the flourishes - doesn't mean McGuiness' style was co-opted. To my eye, and I'm very familiar with McGuiness work, these really don't look the same at all. I think you need to go back and really LOOK at McGuiness work.
I'd like to reinterate that:
he didn't invent cut and paste
he didn't invent collage
he didn't invent silhouette
The work by both of these designers echoes lots from the past including cameo, toile de jouy, Aubrey Beardsley, and I could go on.
