(more) bamboo love

oh man, i'm in bamboo furniture heaven. thanks to you guys we finally found some dining room chairs for our house! they were a bit pricier than i'd hoped (even on sale) but thankfully i was able to get two of them as a belated birthday present from my parents (thank you!) and split the other two between ac and myself. they're chairs we'll have for a long time so i think they'll be worth the investment. i'm already imagining repainting and reupholstering them down the road when i need a change. and speaking of bamboo- this victoria bench at williams-sonoma home is seriously gorgeous. i'd love to paint it white and top it off with a bold vintage fabric. or maybe something with a bold yellow. either way, i'm definitely feeling bamboo right now.

These chairs are heaven! And I so agree that this style is great because the color and upholstery can be changed over time. (But I LOVE the red :)

thanks! the red was the only option on sale so i took it. i think it will be nice though, we have some red in the rest of the house which will flow nicely.

i also wanted to add- a reader sent me the link to the victoria bench but i cannot for the life of me find my note for it. so if you sent me this please please let me know and i'll make sure to get your name in the post- so sorry!

I was completely oblivious to bamboo furniture before I started reading your blog and now I see it everywhere! I also see why you love it so much :)

Fabulous chairs and not too expensive at all for what they are.

For down the line if you consider painting them- I would opt for getting them sprayed professionally rather than painting them yourself. It'll cost more but it'll look way better. And painting bamboo furniture is a pain- I think you could go bananas if you tried painting six of those chairs!

Enjoy your new chairs!

I checked out all the readers' suggestions and had a great time discovering new sites. The chairs you chose were pretty similar to those at Ballard Designs, but the seat cushions on these look more substantial. Good choice!

I've been looking for chairs forever it seems, casually. The sparsley seated dining room table has been more regal on its own. Thanks so much for the chair slide show. It's funny how you have to find THE right chairs and you know when you see them. I'm actually thinking green, a kelly green with a black and white large, really large, stripe. Rambling now . . . good topic!

I spotted those same chairs in white on sale for $149 a piece at my local Williams Sonoma Home store a week or two ago. Did you check out the store or did you buy online?

I have some "bamboo" chairs for sale on Chicago's craigslist right now actually made of aluminum. I am thinking about bead-blasting them clearcoating or painting them and redoing the cushions. Now that I see this post I'm thinking about even more. The chairs look great.
