biz lady nights

00000185

i have been overwhelmed (and very moved) but the comments and emails on the recent bizbox post. thank you for sharing your stories and your struggles with issues of gender in business. i thought i'd open up discussion below about starting up local business lady nights. there have been some great suggestions in the previous post but some of you have expressed interest in having smaller get togethers and just need a way to connect. so, if you'd like to set up a group or connect with people in your area feel free to leave your name, location and some sort of contact link below so people can connect with you. i've gotten requests from london, houston, minneapolis, philly, chicago, portland, san francisco and miami so far so if you live in any of those cities (or a new one!) and want to start up a small local meet up please feel free to leave your info below or start up a meet up.com page in your area and post a link to it. i cherish the biz lady night i attend and i think they're a fantastic way to build a local support group.

Great idea. I don't have a business to talk about but the MeetUp.com link is helpful. Merci!

hey grace, thanks for initiating this!

PHILADELPHIA
if there's anyone in Philly interested, i found a link to an existing Women's Small Business Meetup here...
http://smallbiz.meetup.com/384/?gj=sj5

However, I'd love to meet/connect with others in more creative-related businesses, as I'd prefer a smaller group more specific to that field. If you're interested too, email me at info@ohjoystudio.

Thanks! Joy

That is an AWESOME idea-- thank you for igniting it! I'm a designer in NYC (currently doing architectural illustration and graphic design but getting my Interior Design license within the next year) and don't know many other women (or men, for that matter) who are in a similar situation.

All my friends always ask me what I do for a living yet I feel as I'm working 24 hrs a day. ;)

I am west of Philadelphia. Used to meet with creative minds before I moved from Wisconsin recently. It is a great motivator. Philadelphia or western suburbs, Wilmington/Newark DE would be great.
