So sad! I was a Jane design intern way back when...I suppose all good things come to an end, but Jane will be missed!

One less magazine for girls not solely interested in how to please a man or drop ten pounds overnight. :( We still have Bust though!

That's depressing. I love Jane! Shall we start a letter writing campaign?

The last time I felt this sad about a magazine folding is when Sassy ceased to be.

how sad - I so agree with kirstin - the loss of the one publication for young women that was tough and hip and pretty and not just about "starve yourself and chase men."

After Jane Pratt left, though, the rag has never quite been the same. I think the pub has been lagging in sales & sinking ever since then.

What a pity, I used to love reading that magazine. On a lighter note maybe they should have done something like on 13 going on 30 and did a redesign of the magazine...that movie made me laugh. And how big were jennifer Garners shoulders!?

I am really not surprised...ever since "jane" left the magazne hasn't been the same. Their layout is weird and I don't think they were focused about who their reader was and what she wanted.

Why can't they just leave the website up? It's a great brand, and it doesn't cost much to live in the online world, at least not compared to print. A lot of defunct magazines now do this.

It's a lack of advertising revenue which is hitting a lot of magazines these days. More and more will disappear over the next year as companies elect to advertise online instead of in print.

it is the best magazine you can find at the grocer often, but I much prefer Bust... which reaches a more DIY lady, and I believe has better staying power.

Am I the only one that thought "Jane" sort of went down hill when Jane stopped being the editor. Proof is on the cover: "Who all of Hollywood wants to sleep with, and 24 other celeb jaw-droppers". I was more sad when Jane changed than I am now.

Jane Pratt was an amazing Editor and woman. Her brainchild "Sassy" was just mind-blowing (I wasn't the only one who entered the "Sassiest Girl in America Contest was I?) When Sassy went away and Jane came on the scene I was pacified momentarily. But like so many have said - Jane left and the mag went downhill. I'm sad to see it go, but I let my subscription lapse long ago. And to the reader who loves Bust - have you read them lately? Travel articles for women saying that if they want to travel for free and their best talent is a blow job to use that on unsuspecting men. Ew!

Wow I have a subscription and didn't even know this! I do agree it hasn't been the same since Jane left....but I still liked the magazine. By the way, Jane is the magazine that Sassy became...and they did redesign it when Jane left, but I would agree that it seemed to lose some focus after that.

Tho it is saddening to see it folded, i have to agree with those who thought the magazine had lost its charm when Jane Pratt left.

Not everyone will miss Jane. Read So sad, too bad... by Detroit-based conservative commentator Debbie Schlussel (www.debbieschlussel.com).

I'm more sorry that design*sponge lost this opportunity to be cited in a print magazine with a large audience.

I made the comment about gagging over a conservative commentator and I too have a right to my opinion. Republicans haven't stripped that right away... yet. Go start a war or something...
