design without reach
thwart design is home to some of the funniest and most digusting design i've ever seen. disgusting but hysterical. well, i better expalin the disgusting first. thwart design is home to both bacon bracelets and nipple buttons. both of which make me cringe, laugh and then cringe some more. but, what i LOVE about thwart (besides the fact that they're in brooklyn) is their "design without reach" project, which is an attempt to recreate classic designs without going broke. it's hysterical. you can learn how to make a mini wassily chair with duct tape and paperclips or a satellite bowl with chopsticks and a rubber band. too funny. it's all meant to be tongue in cheek and that's why i love thwart- they don't take themselves too seriously. so, check out thwart and give yourself a good laugh. (not to be missed: their deface urban renewal project which is a poster that looks like clean bricks you can place over graffiti. hahaha.)

very cool. i like the anti design action going on here. the little explorations into classic designs using houshold items is awesome. the wassily chair with paper clips and tape, the norman clock with lollipops!!!! as a design student it really reminds me what can be done quickly with a limited time a budget. i'll put the knowledge to good use... thx
