help! (not apt related)

amelie 2

hi guys, i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a quilt like the one above and below. you know, a textured quilt, sometimes they tend to be made of cotton or something shinier. i know, this is pathetic. i fell in love with the orange quilt in amelie and have wanted something like it forever. any ideas? i like these west elm quilts (i like the square or grid pattern), but not the colors. i'd like some more color choices. ideas? anyone? anyone? thanks guys! be back at 2. xo, d*s

You could check The Company Store. Not exactly contemporary, but they have great comforters, blankets, quilts, etc. in a wide variety of colors and different weights of down. The prices are reasonable, too. www.thecompanystore.com

La Cafetiere is a great French store on 19th ave in the low 20's. Price will probably be high, but they have great sales and are just chock full of wonderful stuff.

Paris Apartment- This used to be a brick and mortar store with such fab things- I've been told it was once in the Village but I only knew it on the UES. On the website, she advertises French quilts/duvet covers in colors like "champagne" and "sunset." I can't load the pictures from this link, and I don't know if it's a problem from my computer or with the website, but I bet she'd email you something, since you're such a lovely design sponge!

Also, the ABC warehouse sale in November usually has great, great bedding.

Target has recently added some textured comforters in bright colors - though I can't what I am talking about on their website.

Who on earth doesn't love John Derian? He wants us to be happy and everything to be beautiful. Unfortunately, according to his website, he wants us to pay $500 to $1200 for his quilts. But they are oh so pretty!

And if you are filled with bravery, you could make your own! I've heard they have wonderful fabrics, but it's second-hand info.

Excellent suggestions from your fans. The distinction to remember is that covers like that in "Amelie" are comforters. Quilts in general have less loft. Pottery Barn has some pretty silk quilts that might float your boat.

If you are really desperate, I could try to make you one. It doesn't look so hard from the pictures . . .

Why not have a custom comforter made to your specifications. Copy that Amelie one exactly. There have got to be affordable workrooms in your area.

my beloved urban outfitters has a TON of lovely satin quilts.
i particularly like the patchwork ones, but the flowerly ones are cute for the girlier crowd. some of them are on sale for great prices too, there is a two-tone nylon one for only thirty dollars!

when you know exactly what you want, don't look for the product, look for someone good to make it.

there are tons of great quilters out there who thrive on doing custom work. Check out a place like Fig Style, perhaps? some of the quilts there are prety sweet. http://www.figstyle.com/main.html

I'm completely in love with your site, and I just so happen to be a quilt-maker. While the previous commenter is correct that the Amelie item is a comforter, not a quilt, I'd be happy to talk with you about making you a high-loft comforter or mid-loft quilt. I can be emailed at lmayo at yuroktribe dot nsn dot us
Cheers!
