lillian vernon
that's right i said it, lillian vernon. i know, sort of the last thing i'd expect to put on my website, but hey, sometimes you can find fun, affordable design in the most unlikely of places.
coming from the hometown of a HUGE lillian vernon factory outlet (where everyone gets a seasonal job with them), it's hard to forget this company that seemed to cram our mailbox with an absurd amoung of mailers every week (the likes of which not seen until the days of garnet hill....three catalogs a week is TOO MUCH, gh!). but after checking my bank account and realizing my summer design budget was a bit more, well, budgeted than i thought, i figured i should try to find some pieces that would be kind to my wee sponge budget.
most of the finds from lillian and vernon came from their dining section. i'm sort of a freak about colored plastic, so i was in cheap fun design girl heaven. they have millions of affordable plastic goodies just asking to be bagged and shipped. for the table? great colored plastic goblets (12 for $25), colorful melamine mixing bowls (6 for $30), super cool colored plastic mini icecube trays (perfect for kitties' water bowl in summer, 2 for $10) and some lovely plastic food containers ($6). none of this is you know, super high design, but i've always thought simple and functional deserved just as much attention as pricier pieces. so, check out the goods at lillian vernon- your home for affordable, colorful, plastic tableware. woohoo!
