wine lines
these nifty little plastic id tags are a holiday party must-have. made of snappy color-coded rubber bands that wind around wine glass stems, wine lines have fun little sayings like, "mellow but charming," "easily approachable," "supple," and "earthy" written on them. drink up!

they also carry a similar item (without words) at the moma design store, but they look more like modified rubber band/twist ties. this version here is really great.

gives me the idea of just using those plastic strip plant id tags.
the ones which are about 10 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, with a slit in it. Used to go round stems of plant, name can be written on them.
tacky yes, but maybe tacky enough to be cool?
