Please be warned that this company has very poor customer service. Two of my five items arrived shattered because they did not wrap them in anything besides brown shipping paper (for international mailing -- including a mosaic tile clock which I would have packed more carefully to mail down the block!) My credit card was charged immediately, but they did not have any of the items in stock, so everything arrived separately and it took weeks and weeks. Most of my inquiries went unaswered; when the store chose to respond, the did so with much exasperation.

If you find something you like, do try to find it elsewhere. Otherwise, proceed with all caution.

I don't like posting notices like this but the whole experience was so frustrating and I felt like the vendor took advantage of the fact that I had no recourse.

dutch by design is quite a favorite among intl. magazines.. They always have quirky items to be featured. Love their stuff!

It's really too bad to hear about their poor service...

I have never bought anything from Dutch By Design but I have bought artwork from Duffy London, who make the Glow Chandelier. I found their customer service excellent and I suggested anyone interested in this product should go directly to them.

Hello,

I am the director of Dutch by Design and would like to reply to Jennifer's post. Jennifer originally claimed to have never received any items at all and demanding a full refund. Later she did confirm that she did receive them after all after some questioning.

We always try our very best for our customers and only ever ask clients to email us a photograph of any damaged items upon which items will be immediately replaced or reimbursed. In this case, we were never notified of any damage or received any photographs of any damaged items.

I am more than happy to provide testimonials from happy customers.

At least it's comforting to know we're not the only people that have been worked over by Dutch By Design. We ordered a lamp from their web site, and they sent us the wrong one. We were wondering how that could have happpened, because we never would have wanted the lamp they sent us. So, we tested their site, and sure enough, when we clicked the lamp we wanted, it added the wrong lamp to our shopping cart. We brought this to their attention, and they said nothing was wrong with their site. So, we tested it again, and sure enough, they fixed the problem. However, they refused to admit there was a bug in the first place and wouldn't pay for return S&H costs. We actually ended up having to dispute the charge with our credit card company, which I've never had to do in my life. When I told them that their service was awful and I would post my experience on blogs, they responded with this threat:

"I suggest you really think before you decide to post any slander on any bloggs as this may make the situation a little more complicated than you may want."

They tried to make it seem like I would get in trouble for posting my honest experience, my side of the story! Not only is their service awful, but they don't seem to respect our rights to consumer advocacy and freedom of speech. Buyer, be very, very wary.
