mibo!

mibo has some GREAT lighting options with their trademark bold patterns and colors that are perfect for adding a little color to your home. i'm considering one of these for my home office (either lulworth or moreton, far left and right). the link to buy online goes to dp which doesn't seem to have them up, but i'll find out what's going on with that and figure out how to buy online (the reps are out of the country until march 13). perhaps they're re-stocking (anyone have any insider info in the meantime?). until then, click here to see some gorgeous pendants and table lamps via their us distributor, lustre. enjoy!

Do you know if these pendants need to be hardwired? I love love love them, but I have no electricity in my ceiling. I am in the market for a truly fab, plug-in pendant.
Anonymous (above),
IKEA sells really inexpensive cord kits if you want to convert a hard-wired pendant into a plug-in pendant. Also, while at Linens & Things recently I found a cord kit that was called something like a "pendant converter" or a "shade converter". It was around $8 and allows you to turn any simple lamp shade into a pendant lamp. It's hard to explain, but it has a piece that screws apart that goes under and over the ring in the lampshade so that the shade hangs evenly and isn't wobbly.
In a recent issue of Domino (if I remember correctly) they showed some lampshades that had been covered with flocked wallpaper. You could always get a drum-style shade from somewhere like Target, cover it using a wallpaper or cool art paper, use an $8 pendant converter kit and voila - gorgeous designer-looking plug-in pendant lamp for under $30!

Dear RDD,
This is Marcia Zia from Zia-Priven Design and I wanted to thank you for mentioning our Wallpaper Pendants! I also wanted to back up Grace, that she did not post the comment on our collection. There was an understanding, under contract, that when we signed on with her, our products would never be mentioned on her blog. Kind of sad, but necessary, out of respect for her readers and her reputation. Her last post on us was after Brooklyn Designs 2005, but not a word since we hired her. It is true we are no longer with Grace, as it was a short term PR commitment, but we still love her and her blog and respect her integrity. Also, she is no longer listed as our PR contact, so no worries Grace and no reason for readers to be concerned!
We are very proud of our Contemporary Wallpaper Collection, all handmade, handscreened, beautiful trade only papers - also available as a hard wire or a plug in!
Grace, we wish you all the best on your new job, and hope that you will feel comfortable to comment again on us and all our new collections in the near future. We will always be here to back you up.
Sincerely,
Marcia Zia

Mibo has a new distributor, 2JANE Co., and the first shades shipments are due in the States by the end of March.
