i dream of cake!
ok, it's sad that i actually do sometimes, but that's actually the name of this fabulous wedding cake company based in san francisco (sf churns out the most amazing designers) i stumbled upon yesterday. shinmin, a d*s reader and founder of 'i dream of cake', designs breathtaking wedding cake designs that i just had to share- since we did talk about weddings this morning. i didn't know cakes could be this beautiful- each one is like a tiny work of (edible) art. prices for cakes range from $8 to $25 per serving and custom cakes start at $325 total. if your special day is close, and you're in the bay area, drop shinmin a line and see if she can design something stunning just for you- i'm sure she can. What a far cry from the white, floral, fondant numbers. They're truly works of art. I agree that I couldn't imagine cutting into it.
The cakes are lovely. For those of us on the West Coast, Katrina Rozelle makes the most delicious cakes in the world. Her design team can do anything in cake decoration, althought nothing on her website, katrinarozelle.com, looks as interesting as these cakes.
Wanted to pass along Kate Sullivan at Lovin Sullivan Cakes here in NYC. We collaborated with her in September to design our wedding cake-- an ode to Lotta Jansdotter. I must attest that it was the most fantastic chocolate cake I've ever inhaled and she was the most pleasant person we've ever worked with.
i've been searching for really really creative and fun wedding cakes in the sf bay area and so far "i dream of cake" takes the cake~ sorry for the fun! i absolutely love the cake with the cherry blossom designs. it's SO gorgeous! thanks for posting!
