grace- i am struggling with two design ideas for my apt. i have a wall that has an open space of 72x48. i've tried to find affordable pieces of art, but have been unsuccesful. i am looking for color and intelligent design. do you have any suggestions.
also, i think it would be helpful for you to include something on your blog about plants. all of us in teeny apts need some green, but living in NYC doesn't always afford one with great light. do you have any ideas about plants, other that ficus, that would be apt and design friendly?
good idea, anon! plants are coming soon...but of course in a d*s way- i don't have a green thumb, but i'll do my best to find some cool greens ;)
as for wall dec. check out out the d*s recs below with the "space above the couch" solutions- lots of good ideas. how about wall graphics?

Remember that book PAD that was everywhere a few years ago? It had a great section on modern/aesthetically pleasing houseplants and it led me to latch on to two that are very hardy and do not sun or much water: Mother In Law's Tongue (can be poisonous - avoid if you have chewing pets or young children) and Dracaena. Both are VERY common and should be easy to find at your local nursery.
