boiler

dynam

oh boy, oh boiler- these designers at boiler studios are doing really, really cool stuff with innovative lighting. their newly released faux pendant lamp is an experiment in "thermotropic" design. meaning, the light "turns away" from heat! in a closed state (i.e. the light is off), the shade remains cold and clings to the bulb tightly, but when the lamp is turned on, the "petals" slowly move away from the warm bulb. what a fun idea. i wonder if it would be creepy to watch them turn away. find out for yourself by watching an animation of the light in action right here. enjoy!

[i'm off to record a few podcasts today so i'll be back tomorrow morning. have a great day!]
