established & sons
sophie at CITY mentioned british design firm established & sons in her milan coverage for d*s so i thought i'd check out what's new with them. established & sons is known for their cutting edge design with some of europe's most up and coming and coveted designers. their work with uber-designer zaha hadid (the aqua table) wasn't my favorite, but i love their limited edition pieces from barberosgerby and anthony taylor. barberosgerby's zero-in table is a work of futurist minimalism at its best, while taylor's fold lamp got a special treatment with corten steel this time, adding a rough contrast in texture to the normally smooth steel. in addition to these two pieces, i really enjoyed amanda levete's super amorphous chester sofa- i imagine it's the sort of thing that would have looked right at home on the set of woody allen's sleeper. you can find more information on established & sons right here. enjoy!
