husmussen finds

orchid

frida's husmussen blog is one of my favorite ways to start the day. she's on a roll again with some great belgian finds i thought you guys would like as well. frida covered belgian artist charlotte lancelot, whose "orchid" coat hanger was a hit in milan. orchid is made of stamped, painted steel cut in a floral pattern. sure beats wire hangers. charlotte also designed a piece called embroidery that i love. emboidery is a collection of mats with oversized embroidery made of industrial waste. charlotte made several designs, including a do-it-yourself version (sounds like fun). click here for more on charlotte.

embroidery

frida also mentioned belgian designer michael bihain, whose eve mural fruit holder reminds me of the bouroullec's "cloud" storage unit (kristina just interviewed them. i'm so jealous- it will be up soon). bihain's piece uses a plexiglass honeycomb form to hold fruit in a way that elevates your average apple to high art. you can add on to the eve mural holder in a myriad of ways (or check out the oyon, a similar version made of pvc). click here for more info on michael. great finds, frida!
