the results of the aia bookstore REcycle/REdesign student competition are in! the first place winner made this fun corkboard of wine corks. designer evan gurgui, a student at philadelphia university designed 'got cork' becayse, "many people love their wine, yet don't realize the potential of the amazing device that caps off their bottle: the cork. by simply gluing them together you can make a personalized corkboard, with the lingering sweet nostalgic smell of your bloved wines." click here for the rest of the winners.

The corkboard thing has been done before in a much less glamorous way.

The nice thing about these is that you can have the typography of the wine corks showing and the memory of drinking that particular wine.

I did this in my Mother's kitchen for her desk in 1979. She lives in Sonoma and we used all of the wine corks that she had saved for many years. Not a new idea, but a good one.
