edith & edna

EdithandEdna (14)

i rarely write about stores without e-commerce, but i've heard such rave reviews of this new shop that i had to do a little post. mav wrote me first to mention a great new shop called "edith and edna" that just opened in portland, maine. run by friends brandy mayes and julie carlson, edith & edna is unique in the fact that everything they carry is handmade. supporting artists that make their goods enirely by hand is really important to a large number of d*s readers so i wanted to pass this along. they currently carry ovr 50 lines including: small things, rectangle designs and social studies (they're bound to get some press soon). in addition, edith & edna have gallery space currently featuring quilts from artists all over the country and they plan to hold workshops and classes on everything from embroidery to felting and t-shirt reconstruction (starting in june). you can check out edith and edna right here (they're starting a blog soon, too!), or if you're in portland this summer stop by 51 exchange street to see edith and edna in person. [thanks mav and brandy!]

I appreciate the photos you posted. They ordered from me for the store and they were extremely gracious. It's so fun having a peak into the far away place where my goods have traveled!
