new podcast: angela adams!

whenever i think of angela adams i'm transported to a place far north, deep in the woods of maine. a world where trees, flowers and animals frolic together to inspire the richly colored and hugely soulful designs of ms. adams. well-known for her beautiful work with textiles, rugs, tiles and accessories, angela adams grew up on an island off the coast of maine where she was (and continues to be) inspired by the bounty of nature around her. i was thrilled to speak with her and even more excited to hear the stories behind her luxurious rugs and tapestries, how she met her husband (designer sherwood hamill) and what her dream project would be if she could design and create without any limitations. so, click here to listen to the first podcast of fall: angela adams. thanks so much to angela and nanette for their time and thoughts.

[don't forget to sign up for the d*s newsletter to receive an exclusive 10 minute extended interview with angela adams. the newsletter goes out on friday. and don't forget lena's guest blog- she's been posting up a storm today and it looks fantastic!]

hooray for podcasts! great to listen to and be inspired by - to be able to put a voice to these artists is wonderful - who can get enough laughter and repartee?

She's my design hero. So cool. Thanks for this, it's nice to hear from someone who's outside of a major city and still doing well :)

I LOVE her use of color. She is brilliant.

But her wool rugs *really* shed!

Wish the quality were better.

I totally disagree. I have one Adams rug I invested in like 3 years ago and as long as I take care of it and give it a brush and clean every few weeks I don't have any problem with shedding. Do you take care of yours? With good care it should be ok- I'm actually considering buying another because it's held up so well. Funny how people's experiences can be so different.

hi grace - what is the background about the music in the intros to the podcasts? how do you select the pieces for each designer you interview?

hi barbara

that's an interesting question! hmm...i guess i just pick music i'm listening to at the time that seems fun. this was a clip from a band called "something for rockets" called "all ok" that i first heard on the lonelygirl15 video blog. but i tend to just try to find upbeat clips that won't be too dull ;)

I tried to load the Angela Adams podcast and it was in mono, not stereo. Just thought you should know for future efforts.
