patterns and paint
i have to skidaddle for a conde meeting in a minute but mav will be here posting her affordable art at the guest blog. also wanted to throw these up really quickly- two of my favorite josef frank fabrics i'm trying to incorporate into my home. windows, the green/white fabric, is hopefully going to become a small roman shade for my bathroom, while the la plata (blue) fabric is going to become a living room bench cushion. also, i seem to have finally found a bedroom paint that is calming and matches the carrie bradshaw curtains. ac is a saint for letting me have curtains this pink [thanks, ac]. the color is "senora gray" by benjamin moore and looks nothing like the swatch or website. it's a nice rich greige/tan color that changes dramatically with the light. i hated it yesterday but this morning i woke up and it made the whole room feel warmer. so, mission accomplished. see you tomorrow with a new podcast. xo, d*s

the top josef frank print is my fav of all his patterns! it's going to look so great as a shade-- i'm jealous.
the marimekko fabric looks great but i really don't think it is the same as the S&TC fabric. are you sure that it is?
yup, everyone thinks that but it's really just because the fabric fell differently in the show. when it folds it looks like solid circles rather than two circles.

also, i emailed the set design team and they confirmed it a while back. they did explain though that the lighting of the show made it look a lot less pink than it does. however, the pink has totally grown on me. i can only hope it grows on ac ;)

I can't wait to see your whole apartment when it's finished! It's so much fun reading about each increment as you find what you need and love. I feel like Domino needs to do a piece on it ;)

Um, do you mean "Hear, Hear"? I think it's far off to say this is like a web version of Domino. That magazine has become a rich person's shopping magazine. I can't afford a damn thing in the magazine these days. I wish they'd go back to their budget days...
This site can be pricey, too but since I've been reading there have at least been a few things that aren't budget busting.

I went on the Benjamin Moore site to see if I could get a sample of the paint you mentioned and they didn't have it listed. I'm hoping that my local store has it...I've been desperately searching for a paint color for a small area of our apartment that has difficult lighting and the paint you mention seems like it might work.

I love Josef Frank's textile designs and you've picked two great ones here. Did you know that the designs are also featured on other products, including trays and table settings? These items are a great way of introducing Frank's designs into a design scheme without breaking the bank on fabric!
