happy new year + welcome back!

happy new year everyone- i hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are ready for the new year. here at d*s, kate and i are working on updating the site a bit and adding some new features. so i'll be taking the next few days to get a little change ready and kate will be modifying the design so things are a bit easier to find around here. because of all this we'll be back on monday to launch with an updated look and new features. stay tuned on monday for: a refreshed (and more organized) look, a new d*s shop, a big d*s contest announcement, updates on the d*s apt project, the brand new d*s project (hint: it's all about student designers) and much, much more. this year is going to be about a renewed focus on independent design for me. i'll be traveling much more this year and bringing you video, audio and photo coverage of design across the globe. i'll also be laying out a schedule for new features so you'll know when to tune in for what you want. so, i'll see you on monday with all this and a fresh new guest blogger. happy 2007! xo, d*s

[above and below: an exclusive sneak peek at the new rug, wall art and stationery collections from thomas paul. thanks, thomas!]

thanks for the inspiration and i know it hasn't been easy, but you do it so well and you are so generous with your supporting designers, charities and even us little bloggers. thanks grace for a great year and i look forward to all your posts (and "travels" - so jealous) in 2007!

I am a huge fan. Your taste is amazing and I love your choices. I've been remodeling a 1928 Spanish House for a year and we are up to paints and wallpapers and finishes and I have been surfing your site obsessively for ideas and inspiration.

I have a couple questions for anyone out there who knows the answer or who has suggestions.

1) The VINYL line is in Paris and I wanted to order a couple things but the shipping costs as much as the items themselves. Is there a US distributor for these decals?

2) Anthropologie and Urban have fantastic wallpapers up in their stores that they do not sell and I can't find anything like it anywhere. Their politics aside, do you know where they get/make/find/buy the papers on display in their stores and in their catalogues? None of the people who work there seem to have any answers and when I call and write, not being a design pro, I get the run-around.

Thanks again for your uber fabulousness! I look forward to the new formats.
