matte stephens

Ohh, I really like these. They make me think of some sort of wonderful, campy cartoon show. I wish they were stills from a real cartoon; I bet it would be amazing!

Wow - these look like they could have come straight from the book "Cartoon Modern" about cartoon animation styles of the 30s/40s/50s!

I love animation and illustration from that time period They were the greatest. I think my favorite illustrator is Cliff Roberts.One of the first books i had as a child was the first book of jazz.I think that book really directed the way my art went.
I love to make blockish characters that look like they have a really hard time moving.Im inspired mostly by Holiday Fair toys from the 1960s.They are super! Really cheap when you can find them.

WOW OMG! Just saw on his Blog that Matte is selling prints of his work! I can't wait to get one. It's on the ETSY website and you can link from his blog. Looks like the prices are extremely great.
