brian donnelly

d*s reader rachel sent over a link to canadian artist brian donnelly. i loved the composition of his works and the balance between negative space and the image itself. the collection contains some paintings that are seriously nsfw but you can click here to check out the full range (might want to do it when you get home...).

A mixed bag...some of the design is more thought out than others. Not sure it's art yet.

some of it's interesting, IMHO, but some of it's really bad, technically--and pretty juvenile.
i do like the rabbit image.

I would say seriously nsfw. I have to admit I was surprised to find it recommended on this site in spite of the rabbit picture.

i love the negative comments. really. i have always found designsponge to be a bit too nice. i would love to see more critical thought on here.

I really enjoy how diverse Mr. Donnellys work is, from painting naked girls making faces to painting sparrows to painting a half beast half human, his subject matter is clearly thought through and executed with much talent. Well Done!

i surprised to see it recommended here, too, because this is such a great blog. maybe i'm just not getting it...are his paintings supposed to look like a first year art school student with one semester of figure drawing under his belt? because seriously, those figures are awwwwww-kwaaard. and porn-ish. for me, this definitely goes over the "edgy-provocative" line and into the prurient.
