vintage
i find the vintage shops at etsy to be an interesting addition to the bunch- i'm eager to see how it works and if prices will raise with interest like ebay. in the meantime, i'm digging this little vintage tray at nice's shop. it's only $16 and available right here...enjoy! [there's only one so order quickly if you'd like it]

Speaking of vintage on etsy, "order quickly" is a good all-around tip, because the future of vintage on etsy is up in the air right now. I don't have the latest details, but I know they've been thinking about eliminating the vintage category to concentrate more exclusively on handmade items. So order now, because the vintage shop you want to buy from may not be there later! (You should be able to find more information on the "blog" link on the bottom of all etsy pages.)
personally, I don't think esty should sell vintage items. it is such a brilliant and needed marketplace for the independent artist/designer/crafter.
i fear selling vintage items will dilute the integrity of this space. after all, their tag line is
"your place to buy and sell all things handmade"
Thanks so much for featuring my tray! I think it's such a great design - I'm really excited that it found a new home today. :)
the new etsy constitution says that the only vintage items allowed on etsy are those that are already listed.
oh well, back to ebay to search for good finds i suppose.
In some ways I think it's too bad that Etsy will stop selling vintage items (I think it's as of April or something), but their whole schtick is that they sell handmade stuff, so it makes sense.
I was a vintage seller on Etsy but after the new rules posted on March first I moved my shop. I really loved Etsy and felt like the buyers on Etsy who appreciate the fine quality of unique art pieces were also very likely to be the same buyers who would appreciate the value of fine vintage items. But, I'm tired of messing around over there!
