sneak peek: little girl's room

it seems like everyone i know is having a baby these days, so i've got kids on the brain. i've been helping a few expectant mothers design their childrens' room so it was lovely to hear from d*s reader missy babcock who contacted d*s 2 years ago to ask for advice on her 3 year old's room. since we last spoke she's made incredible improvements and i just had to share them. this would have been my dream room as a little girl. heck, it would still be my dream room now. i love the soft pink and little bird details- it's so sweet and serene. also, missy's still looking for advice on bedding for the room so if you have any ideas feel free to leave them for her below. [thanks missy for sharing]

I love this room. I'm in the process of designing a room for my daughter and love the window shades. Do you where they are from?

I love it, especially the little alcove hidden in the back.

I think any of the dwell kids bedding would look cute in this room. Personally I like the cowgirl, but maybe the carousel or garden would work better with the "theme" of the room.

-Thanks for the Dwell suggestion. I will revisit their line.

-The curtain is indeed the "Until Dawn" one. I bought it from momastore. You can cut it to length.

-The walls are Pink Lustre (a Martha Stewart color at Sherwin Williams). I don't think they sell MS paint anymore, but can mix it if you give them the name.

-They aren't decals on the walls. They are stencils inspired by this glass: http://www.modernpoverty.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1000-890-016&Category_Code=60

Thanks for all of the nice comments! - Missy B.

Are those curtains the same ones that I have seen used as shower curtains?

as for bedding, what about some black and white stripe (more narrow than wide) bedskirt, or trim on the topsheet...

I LOVE the red Bilibos in the play nook. They're so striking, and are part of what keeps this room from being striking just a single note and being merely pretty. My toddler son, who's all about cars and trucks and things that go, loves his Bilibo, too. They work everywhere!

My daughter's room has an identical color palatte. Her bedding is from Target. White with black embroidered looking flowers. I realize Target isn't probably the quality you're looking for, but the print works, I think. The comforter was used in an episode of Top Design (the kid's room episode!)

Also, our paint color is Southern Beauty by Behr. It's very similar.

Urban Outfitters has a cute bedspread called the Wildflower Bedspread - nice black and white print. Also maybe not the quality you're looking for, but even folded and draped over the end of the bed might look nice...

Can you please explain how to make the stencil used on the wall (making one from the design inspired from the glass...), materials used, etc?
Thanks.
