biz ladies: the top 5!

well, the results are in and we have the top five cities for the biz ladies nights this year. in order of votes:
  • chicago: 19%
  • san francisco: 16%
  • seattle: 15.4%
  • philadelphia: came up from behind at the last minute with 12.2%
  • portland, oregon: 12.1%

i'm so excited to visit all of these cities! thank you to everyone who voted- i'll be announcing my schedule and dates soon so stay tuned for dates, times and locations if you're near any of these cities. and...there's one last surprise.

i've decided to add an honorary 6th place because 5th place was such a tight race. los angeles lost by .1% and since i've always wanted to go there i'll be bringing the biz ladies to los angeles, too. that's all my budget can allow for right now but i'll definitely try to host more biz ladies events in additional cities if i can find funding. thanks again to everyone who voted, can't wait to get the meetings started!

You'll love Portland Grace, if you haven't been before. I'm from Seattle/Tacoma area and every time I visit there I fall a little more in love with the city. So glad to see it on the list!

Oh, man... only one location on the East Coast?? And the survey wouldn't even let me vote....

Too bad. I live in Richmond, VA and could have made it to Baltimore, DC or Norfolk. :(

the survey closed this morning at 8 am, i announced that on friday. it was open for two weeks prior to that.

norfolk/va. beach was on the list (as well as several other east coast cities) but they didn't win the vote, sorry.

Grace,
Do you have a link to the overview/description of what the biz ladies night is all about? I want to send it to my LUCKY friend who lives near Philadelphia.
Thanks!

Grace --

No hard feelings -- I tried a couple of times while the survey was open, but since I used a work computer, I think our firewall screwed something up.

And who knows... I have some relatives near Philly :)

i don't think i have a formal description anywhere but basically the intended purpose is to connect local women running their own design-based businesses. my goal is to have them leave with a few connections they can use to form a smaller group that will meet regularly for support, ideas, collaboration. etc.

we normally have a little chatting time and then time to either listen to speakers or share advice, tips.

are poor marketing ppl like me working in the design industry welcome?........ :-P?

if you're planning on starting your own design-related business you're more than welcome. i try to keep it to people actually making products or creating artwork/design, rather than in the promotion end. only because the advice available from experts is most beneficial to people in that area.

YAY for Portland and Seattle. Deeply devoted Portland NATIVE here who just moved to Seattle. You will love P-town, rain or shine, its such a sweet, cozy, friendly city. I wish I could list some favorite haunts for you, but I am sure you will be quite busy. Still getting to know seattle myself, but the skyline at night is really something special and inspiring....my grandpa used to call it his jewel box!! Lucky you that you get to visit the gorgeous pacific NW!!!
