monacca
monacca is the line of japanese products that was so hot last year and got oodles of press for their cedar briefcases, cushions and calculators. this year they're releasing a furniture collection comprised of their already famous cedar "cushions" (i'll get into that in a minute), a side chair, low table and what i like to call a "stadium seat". clearly the idea of a cedar cushion sounds a bit uncomfy so, let me just say, i have serious doubts about the comfort level of a wooden cushion, chair or "stadium seat", but, for the time being, i'm appreciating these on a design/aesthetic level alone. they just look clean and slick. but, if you like them enough to look past the potential comfort issue, you can order the products online (2-4 week shipping time) at the monacca net store in september 2005. [sorry the pictures aren't great, that was the best i could get for the moment]

I swear saw you or your long lost twin today on Flatbush and 7th ave., but it was very hot and I was probably thinking about furniture (as I often do) and saw someone who resembled you and made the connection. Either way keep up the good work.
i do take the subway right there....

It was you!! I totally saw you go into the subway! Have a good vacation. BTW, if you ever have the time on the weekend you should head up to Hudson, NY. It is known as an antiques mecca, but a whole bunch of stores have opened that sell retro-modern furniture, plus a few other nice home boutiques and couple of cute restaurants. It hasn't always been so nice and fun, but has really blossomed in the last couple of years.
