d*s reader recs [gael needs your help!]

sleeperdwr

d*s reader gael is in desperate need of a sweet sleeper sofa. here are the details:

"I am getting married in a few months and a small back room that my fiance and I have has to be transformed into a guest room. We've decided that a sofa bed would work best in the space, but are having trouble finding the right one. We would like to spend under $1,000 and want a piece that actually looks nice. Any suggestions?"
so, any ideas you guys? gael thanks you in advance. [photo above from dwr]

If you are in NYC, head to Metropolitan Design Center (MDC). The Paris sofa line is a high-quality, mid-century style sleeper sofa (with a bottom trundle bed that extends outward) and priced around $1000 or cheaper, depending on upholstery. We just bought one and are really pleased with the clean lines and flexible bed option.

A completely different idea is to do what we did: use the tall-size blow-up Aerobed. I know it's cheesy, but it's honestly comfier than a sleeper, which can have seams or thin or hard mattresses. This is only if you have room to push other furniture to the side. Just an idea!

another option would be the EZ bed for $300 at frontgate.com. it's a self-inflating elevated guest bed.

Chiasso has a few nice contenders, though I don't know how comfortable they are. We were considering the aero for that purpose:

The sofa bed at Bo Concept is really a super nice piece and reasonably priced for the quality at $699 (or more depending on the fabric). That would be my first choice.

If you want something less expensive, but still really comfortable to sleep on--check out the Beddinge sofa bed at IKEA. I have one in my basement and it's been great. With the right fabric cover, it looks pretty nice.

I bought my sofa from wiederusa. Extremely comfortable and well made. Customer service was excellent.WIEDER is a surprise - in spite of its minimalist looks it offers excellent comfort, thanks to high quality filling and spring mattresses in the seat. Roomy and comfortable while not taking up too much space. Even more surprising is the ease with which the sofa converts into a double bed.www.wiederusa.com
