merkury
there will be plenty of new kids on the block at icff this year, but one of the ones i thought was worth checking out was detroit's merkury. merkury is releasing a line of all-aluminum furniture and this chair is one of my "must-visit-to-see-how-comfy-it-is". merkury is pretty confident they'll knock people's socks off so we'll have to see for ourselves. check out merkury at booth 1072 at icff. (no site for them yet, sorry)

It immediately reminded me of a Vespa cylinder head. (a bit squashed but the fins are the same!)
It's beautiful all right, but I hope you've got some kevlar pants on when you try it. As far as furniture taxonomy goes, this would be under chair sculpture, I think. Looks like it would make quick work of slicing watermelons, though.
I love the chair!
