perhonen chair

nothing like a pretty chair to brighten up your day. i'm constantly looking for beautiful chairs to add to the house (when we ever have room for them) and this one is too cute for words. teresa from the homestead blog sent me a link to her site and i found this beautiful chair half-way down the page. designed by akira minagawa, the perhonen chair comes with a detachable back section that can be removed and switched out when you need a little change. click here for more info. [thanks, teresa!]

It's pretty but it looks like it would be so terribly uncomfortable for le tush.

Yes, I second that. I have a similar chair that's good for fat-bottomed girls like me, but it definitely needs a pillow!!!!

Oh, such a nice chair!

But who is this Akira Minagawa, and how does he (or she, dunno 'bout those japanese names...) knows finnish language? I really would like to hear more, because I have never heard about minä perhonen, and it doesn't seem like traditional scandinavian design...(which is my passion, i'm from Finland ;D ) Though, there are some similarities in finnish and japanese design, like simplicity, nature and some kind of asceticism.

Thanks for introducing this designer!
