anthropologie

rick santorum aside, anthropologie has to be one of my favorite stores around. every season they knock me off my feet with fantastic products and store displays. after the painting project i checked out what was new with them and it looks like they've been turning all of my dream projects into reality. this season they've released an entire series of furniture upholstered in my favorite josef frank fabrics. they're certainly not items i can afford on a whim, but the fabric alone costs a fortune so the prices were to be expected. i'm just so thrilled to see frank's work in a shop with such mainstream appeal. you can view the full collection right here and shop online, too. i'm terrified to see what comes next- if they release a collection of nadine nakanishi prints in textile form i'll know for sure they're in my head.

unfortunately when it's done by a big company like this, it sort of ruins it for me... but they are still fabulous. i'll take one of each...

is there a santorum / anthropologie connection that I'm unaware of?

i agree with lena, it is kind of a buzz kill to see josef frank splashed all over anthropologie. but, i gotta say it's pretty fantastic too. when patterns are this gorgeous, it's great to see them getting more play (and on killer furniture as well...) even if i still can't afford it!

anthropologie's ceo donated to rick santorum's campaign last year (and i believe years before, too). i personally don't connect ceo's with the artists within a shop, but every time i mention them a small community of people get all riled up and say "don't you know they donate to santorum?!!".

I didn't know about the Santorum connection either. I do love these pieces though.

the santorum connection is pretty disturbing to me. it's good news though in a way ... i can't be shopping at any place that supports a guy like santorum. think of all the money i'll save!

love these pieces though. damn.

To me there is a big difference between a CEO donating his/her own personal money to a politician versus donating a company's money to a politician.

but santorum is such a clean cut guy! no but seriously, these are so so pretty. i was thinking about buying fabric from deadly squire and upholstering my mothers old chair that has wooden dog heads. they have a josef frank-ish pattern that i adore. i think that joy posted it the other day.

we also thought about making the couch in our house pomegrante...

i'm with you doug, it's why i continue to post their work. but for some reason if i don't acknowledge the santorum thing 80 people come out of the woodworks to say "but did you know..."

Wow, I didn't know that about the Santorum thing either, but like you, it doesn't bug me that much. Their stuff is just so cool.

Anyway Grace, I thought you were supposed to be avoiding stores like Anthro! (We forgive you though.)

ha- i'm avoiding them but every once in a while i have to sneak things like this in. i promise you won't see more than say 1 or 2 out of 45-50 posts a week from box stores. that's not too bad ;)

These are some of my favourite fabrics too. It'd still be much more satisfying (and cheaper too I think, even with the prices of fabrics at Svenskt Tenn!) to undertake your own re-upholstery project with a vintage chair.

heh.heh.heh. I'm one of those Santorum commenters. I quit shopping at all Gap stores when I found out their ceo was a Bushevik. Their stock is now in the toilet. heh.heh.heh. But, frivolously, those chairs are seriously beautiful.

for a second i thought this might be the same textiles as the bemz designer collection, but it's not the same person. although if you like the anthro stuff, you might like the bemz stuff too, and improve your ikea chairs and sofas...http://www.bemz.com/themes/stig/
