for making a piece of furniture that doesn't use those round metal legs or big thick hunks of rectangular wood. yes, these are still wooden and a bit on the chunky side but i'm loving these new "mandal" pieces at ikea. these
chests of 4 or
6 drawers are only $149 and $199 and have alternating pulls on the drawers as well as a nice black/natural wood contrast going on. now if only they could make an affordable couch with
tapered legs...until then you can check out what's new at ikea
right here- the whole website's been revamped so it's a bit easier to use. though i think i might actually prefer the old version.

re: IKEA website- way better- except still has a few bugs to work out.
the units are pretty ugly in real life.
Aww, I don't think they are ugly in real life. I just bought the Mandal bed. I'm very happy with it, although I think I will paint the natural wood white to better fit with my other bedroom furniture.
have you seen ikea's new "Super Expensive" line? Those are their words... super quality, super materials, super expensive...that is their slogan or something similar to that.
I was just at ikea 2 days ago and saw the new line, lots of tapered legs, very clean lines, etc. looked really good.
i'm pretty sure you could just buy a set of tapered legs and swap them with whatever the ikea sofa has.. i think the legs just unscrew?
For a similar look but much nicer proportions and quality, check out Blu Dot furniture. Very very cool stuff. Not as cheap as Ikea, but it will last a long time. You can look at their site or see a few of their things on Hive Modern.
I like the old website better too.
yeah, i like the old site better too.
